Wellbeing – Three Ways To Write It

Since the English Language, ‘itself’, came into existence. There has only ever been one grammatically correct means of writing the written phrase “well-being”. Since its first documented inception, in 1561, the phrase, interestingly enough, has in more recent times, often been grammatically presented as both wellbeing and well being.

Whether it’s wellbeing, well being, or grammatically correct well-being, I’m sure the three ways of writing it convey the same type of idea. Now given it’s such a common spelling mistake, especially in modern times, it may make common sense not to be ‘pulling people up’ merely on the grounds of how they write the phrase down on ‘paper’.

Despite the spelling. Well-being is a universal type concept

Apple tree

Let us consider that. The phrase “well-being is a universal concept” is conceptually shared by even lifeless matter itself. A tree for instance. Even though a tree does not have an actual “life”, as such, it, as a lifeless form of matter, can experience well-being via the provisions of beneficial environmental circumstances.

Now living beings, of matter, also benefit and thrive under beneficial circumstances. These circumstances may manifest in many different forms, varying between individuals, however, the universal benefit of well-being is represented by good health, good fortune, happiness, and general wellness. Thus, it is better to ensure a long healthy life that is of true meaning and, importantly, of benefit for all involved.

Ask a friend “What is well-being to you friend”?

This is something that can inspire a varied and wide response. Entirely dependent upon which friend you may ask. One friend may simply say “Look, I feel a sense of well-being out sailing”. The next thing saying, “So let’s jump on the yacht and go”.

Another friend may sit there and talk to you for hours about it running through numerous “this and that’s” to explain their broad array of perceived well-being activities. So you see that well-being is a lot like love.

If you asked one person “what represents love to you”, one person may say “aw when hubby does the dishes”. Ask another person, and they may reply “love to me is how my partner kissed me today”.

In straight forward terms, like love, well-being, is defined differently from one individual to the next. Yet if you ask most people. “Do you like well-being” or “do you like love”. It’s fair to say that most people would answer yes.

A friend asks you “what is well-being to you”

Vegetables on the barbeque

Let’s just imagine. You’re at a barbecue and someone asks you “what is well-being to you”? What would you say?

“Well-being is like a tricky balance of many beneficial circumstances manifesting within a person’s life”. The bloke, or lady, would ask “well what do you mean tricky balance”. Then subsequently I’d most likely reply “well you know, not too much of one thing, a good balance that may become tricky due to the many responsibilities and distractions potentially occurring for any given individual. Discipline in this area equals happiness”

Now the person at the barbecue may even still inquire “well what do you mean by discipline”. To that I’d say that discipline is like regiment. Discipline has nothing to do with hitting anyone. Discipline is the mind of doing the right things for our body, speech, and mind on a regular and constant basis. The result being happiness for that’s just how the ‘law’ of cause-and-effect works. More on that at another time.

The importance of balance and moderation

Exercise and balance

It’s widely known that tremendous exertion, in a sustained environment, for the human body can lead to numerous problems associated with wear and tear or potential injury. It makes logical sense not to overexert to the point that an exercise regime may potentially become non-beneficial. Also to ensure a balanced benefit to the body it makes sense to choose exercise that doesn’t focus specifically on one muscle group. Swimming, for example, is fantastic because it activates numerous muscle groups withing the body in a balanced way.

Amongst other things. What we eat is so important

Might it be recognized, as proven by science, that many causes of our passing can be directly attributed to what we’ve eaten. Yes, food is potentially, and either directly or indirectly, a potential cause of our end or prosperity.

We won’t be naming, here today, the lengthy list of problems associated with the bowl, for example, for I’ve still got half a sandwich to eat for lunch. Yet without delving into it too much. It would be fair to say that far too much of anything, even if told it was good, can be of non-benefit. Like consuming specifically only rice, constantly, for example.

Balance like scales

A balanced state of well-being from numerous beneficial circumstances

Beneficial circumstances need to be occurring simultaneously to ensure the best possible chance at a natural feeling of well-being. There are numerous, and widespread, concepts relating to the improvement of perceived well- being.

Wellbeing as a concept for the benefit of all

Whether a person writes it as wellbeing, well being or well-being. We can recognize that the general meaning conveyed is the same and there won’t be a need to be going around correcting anyone on the matter. This site will be referring, grammatically, to the term “wellbeing” for that is more in line with the commonly used way of presenting the phrase in modern times.

It’s a universal, balanced concept that we all share a personal stake in to varying degrees.

All the best and feel free to leave any comments or suggestions that you may want to add or discuss. Good day.
