In a world that is constantly changing it makes sense to look at ways of changing for the better. The true nature of reality is that nothing will stay the same forever so let’s try our best to make the most positive changes within our life. This is of tremendous benefit not only for yourself but for those we love.
As the old saying goes “Life wasn’t meant to be easy” nor is the perfection of positive change. Some of us may change in effective ways whilst others may change in not-so-good ways. There are even some who reject change altogether thus grasping towards keeping everything the way it has been. This, I can imagine, would be an exhausting process that may lead to disappointment when the inevitability of change prevails.
Everything is Mind – Mind is Everything
The concept that everything is a result of the mind is something that some may attempt to refute. A person may state “But a car isn’t mind or that table isn’t mind”. Yet both of those items exist because of the mind. Even material items of this world began as an idea in someone’s mind and eventually manifested into their current form.
So, in the perfection of making change for the better, it makes sense that this is a process that starts and finishes with the power of the mind. We can conceive an idea and then manifest that idea into a state of reality. Someone said to me the other day “You are what you eat” and I would further that statement to say, “We are what we think”.
Being mindful of what we are thinking
To make positive change in our life begins with the mind. The power of our mind can shape and provide the most beneficial change within our lives. So, at this stage, it is of great benefit to keep a close “watch” on the emotions and thoughts that our mind may be participating in. This includes being mindful of the activities and information that we introduce to the mind.
You can try this yourself. Take notice that if you are thinking of some negative circumstance, within life, just how that can make you feel. A mind that is prone to negativity can also begin to have effects on our physical wellbeing. So, it makes sense to put effort, if necessary, into returning to the mind top beneficial concepts like love, compassion, peace, and harmony.
To dramatically improve the chances of remaining in a good mind it is valuable to recognize that mind-altering substances are to be avoided. The mind in its pure natural state is far more intuitive and capable of making the best decisions towards beneficial change. Most of us have more intuition than we may give ourselves credit for and all the things we want are there in our minds just waiting to manifest ourselves in a more beneficial life of positive change.
Being Aware of What We Are Doing
There are irrefutable laws of cause and effect that can shape our lives in good, or not so good, ways. If we are doing something that is nonbeneficial, we will produce not-so-beneficial outcomes. Yet, when we involve ourselves in beneficial activities the rewards are often happiness and success just to name a few.
Take note of the activities we are involving ourselves in for most of us can define what the basic differences between right and wrong are. When there is any doubt, we may be able to source the insight of a teacher who can guide us on the path to the best way forward.
This indicates that our lives will be a result of what we do, say, and think. It makes little sense to completely blame any given external circumstances for our actions of body, speech, and mind for we all, by and large, make our own choices. This is great in the sense that life is like choosing your adventure. We may choose between activities that lead to prosperity rather than suffering and that’s what makes this human life such a precious and rare opportunity.
“I’m starting with the man in the mirror”
These concepts relate to all genders, yet I’ve quoted a song in this heading to introduce an idea rather than indicating something only a “man can do”.
Some of us may be very tempted to change the external events of the world. Yet, the only real thing we have the intrinsic power to change is ourselves. So that’s why positive change is something that “starts at home”. Often the attraction of changing the world can be the result of failing to make appropriate changes within us first. So rather than focusing on “how someone else is driving their car” it is beneficial to address “how we are actually driving our own car”
When positive change is achieved, we then, as individuals, may be of most benefit to those around us. It is far better to lead by example rather than dictating terms to others. Especially if we find ourselves in a position of being unable to make those positive changes ourselves. So, to be of most benefit to others it makes sense to buckle down and maintain the effort required towards making, and maintaining, positive change within our lives.
How Shall we Know When Our Change is Working
In this instance, it is good to take note of the results we are achieving in our lives. A general feeling of wellbeing is something that “money can’t buy” and I put to you that this wonderful feeling is a result of really taking note of the decisions we make in life. Some signs that we are changing for the better are as follows.
- Our relationships will flourish – It’s a great feeling to be at peace in the world and the people within it. When we are changing in the best possible ways, we will have better relationships with our loved ones and with all human beings in general.
- Opportunities may present themselves – On our path to beneficial change we may receive indications that we are heading in the right direction. This may manifest as a promotion at work or even as simply as finding money on the footpath. Take note of the beneficial actions of the body, speech, and mind that lead to this, and keep making those positive changes.
- Better general wellbeing – When we are at peace with the world, and our beneficial change, we will have better results, generally, and a far better feeling of wellbeing. Our health will be better and we will feel good when we rise in the morning.
- Improved levels of happiness – Happy people are more fun to be around. So as positive changes are made, we may find that we have more friends and a more complete sense of belonging to a thriving community.
Beneficial Changes of Body, Speech and Mind
Some good changes to consider within these categories are as follows:
- Changes of body: Taking care of our diet. Eating organic, healthy, and nutritious foods. Making sure we are doing enough exercise is beneficial. Also, using the actions of the body to the assistance of others, like helping someone in need to cross the road for example. Researching other ways in which we may take better care of our body.
- Changes in speech: This may include such things as refraining from lying, idle chatter, hurtful speech, or gossip. Being truthful to ourselves, about our speech, is the best way to make the required changes on our path to getting the best out of life.
- Changing the mind: If we are thinking in a way that is not making us feel well or not providing the best results it is up to us to change that. We may become involved in a like-minded community that may assist with that, yet it is down to the individual to make the most beneficial changes. The individual is the one most in control, generally, of their mind.
Everything is Subject to Change so Do it Well
So, in conclusion, today I’d like to put forward the idea that there is no shame in realizing that positive change needs to be made. If we were all perfect, there would be no such thing as problems in this world. So, let’s all openly recognize that change is necessary and that we can all essentially do this together. We are not alone on our path to change and if we can always consider how to change for the better, we are sure to witness far better results from this precious human existence.
